Welcome to Chico (MORE)

The City of Chico was founded in 1860
by General John Bidwell, and became
incorporated in 1872.

Chico is in California's Sacramento Valley,
a large and agriculturally rich basin that runs through the northern center of the state.

Visitors can enjoy Chico's natural beauty
through outdoor activities such as
biking, hiking, fishing, swimming, golfing,
horseback riding, tubing, and picnicking.

Beautiful Bidwell Park (MORE)
These 3,700 acres offer picnicking, swimming, equestrian and bicycling trails, golf, archery, pistol ranges, playgrounds, baseball/softball fields, and organized recreational activities year round. It was seen nationally in 1937 when the original Adventures of Robin Hood was filmed among the towering oaks and sycamores. The park has been designated as an official California Watchable Wildlife site. This is the country's second largest municipal park (over 3500 acres), shrouded by pristine oak woodlands and watered by Big Chico Creek meandering through it, located in the quaint city of Chico The Trees (400 year old valley oaks, sycamore, and other native plants of an oak woodland ecosystem), easy access, easy biking in the lower park or rugged mountain biking in upper park.
Historic Bidwell Mansion (MORE)
A short walk from the Goodman House Bed and Breakfast is Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, a beautiful, three story, 26 room Victorian House Museum that stands as a memorial to John and Annie Bidwell. John Bidwell was known throughout California and across the nation as an important pioneer, farmer, soldier, statesman, politician and philanthropist. Annie Ellicott Kennedy Bidwell, the daughter of a socially prominent, high ranking Washington official, was deeply religious, and committed to a number of moral and social causes. Annie was very active in the suffrage and prohibition movements.
Chico Museum (MORE)
Within walking distance from the Goodman House Bed and Breakfast Chico's history comes alive at the Chico Museum!
Housed in a former Carnegie Library building in downtown Chico, the Chico Museum has hosted more than 85 exhibits celebrating the distinct heritage of Chico since it opened in February 1986.
